Review of the 2010 Acura TL

2010 TL

Introduction
With all new performance, comfort, styling and technology features, the fourth generation five-passenger 2010 Acura TL is setting new standards in its class. The latest redesigned high-performance luxury sedan from Acura, the TL was fully redesigned last year and continues as a carryover model for 2010.

Exterior Design and Special Features
With strong character lines, LED taillights, bright HID projector-beam front headlights and sweeping pillars, the exterior of the TL is one to contend with. Inside, a new dual personal layout for the driver and front passenger provides comfort. A cool-looking 4-guage instrument cluster, classy center stack, and comfortable front and rear seats are other impressive features. The cargo space available is 13.1 cubic foot in the base TL and 12.5 in the TL SH-AWD. Long items can be extended into the cabin by folding the rear-seat armrest and opening the lockable access door. A Technology Package with features like AcuraLink real-time traffic and AcuraLink weather with Doppler-style radar mapping and optional ELS Surround premium 10-speaker surround sound system is also available.

Engine
The TL is available in base TL and TL SH-AWD trims. The base TL has a transversely-mounted front engine, front-wheel drive drivetrain layout. The TL SH-AWD trim comes with a transversely-mounted front engine, Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) drivetrain layout. A choice of two different all-aluminum VTEC engines is offered. A 3.5-liter V-6 producing 280 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque that sends power to the front wheels through Acura's sophisticated Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel- mounted paddle shifters and Grade Logic Control is standard. It delivers an EPA fuel economy ratings* of 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Serious performance-sedan enthusiasts can go for the TL SH-AWD powered by a 3.7-liter V-6 engine which produces 305 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque courtesy of greater displacement and additional high-performance features like Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) on both the intake and exhaust valves, and a special high-flow dual exhaust system. Its EPA fuel economy ratings* stand at 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway*.

Safety
The 2010 Acura TL comes with industry-leading equipment aimed at both driver and passengers' safety and security in all situations. The standard airbags protect the occupants in a wide variety of impact situations. The Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system actively compensates for understeer, oversteer, and skidding - in milliseconds. A camera located in the rear spoiler plate (a part of the Technology Package) sends the navigation screen a view of the space directly behind the vehicle during reversing, adding to its safety and convenience while parking.
